Although Vietnam's agricultural products still account for a small proportion in the structure of Vietnam's exports to Germany, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Germany, this country's market still has a lot of potential.

Although Vietnam's agricultural products still account for a small proportion in the structure of Vietnam's exports to Germany. Specifically: In 2020, Vietnam exported to Germany 196.6 million USD of fresh and processed meat and fish products, accounting for less than 1% of Germany's import demand (about 26 billion USD); 303 million USD of products through fresh fruit, processed fruit and nuts, accounting for 2.7% of Germany's import demand (about 11.2 billion USD); 429 million USD of tea, coffee and spice products, accounting for 10% of Germany's import demand (about 4.1 billion USD).

According to Counselor Bui Vuong Anh, the above figure shows that the potential of the German market is still very large. By making good use of the opportunities brought by the cooperation mechanisms and legal frameworks between the two countries such as the EVFTA Agreement, the mechanism of the Joint Committee on economic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, agricultural products are exported to Vietnam. Imports of Vietnam in general, of the Southern region and the Central Highlands in particular will have the opportunity to penetrate deeply and meet the increasing requirements of this relatively fastidious market.

Another advantage of the German market is the fact that Germany has a large Vietnamese community, living, working and doing business, and has a distribution system of Asian products, of which most of them come from China. Vietnam is widespread throughout Germany, and is a potential hub for consumption and transshipment of Vietnamese exports, not only within Germany.
